Joel always responded to my email within 10 minutes or so. The place is very nice and well decorated. There was an issue with the front door initially but Joel came over to fix it right away. Joel is very customer focused and will do whatever is needed to make his tenants happy. Joel gave us a giftcard to a nice burger restaurant since he was sorry about us having an issue with the front door.

Joel’s place was very nice and the descriptions and pictures described it perfectly. It’s very easy to walk to the beach and get to the grocery store and restaurants. We will definitely try to go back.

We absolutely loved our stay here! The house itself was clean and spacious, even more so than the pictures might imply. The easy walk to the beach and Middleton Park was perfect for our toddler, and we appreciated the outdoor shower for rinsing off after we got home. The back pad area is nice and shady in the afternoon, and we enjoyed the fire pit and grill as well. The house feels very private and quiet despite being on the main road. Joel is a great host and this really was the perfect house for our family beach vacation. I hope we’re lucky enough to stay here again in the future!

We loved our stay at Joel’s cottage! The house was perfect for our family of 5. The beds were extremely comfortable, bathrooms were in great shape, and we loved the kitchen. The decor is very attractive and inviting in all of the common areas. The beach is about a 6-7 minute walk away, which is no problem. We had a couple questions before and during the trip, and Joel was very quick to respond and helpful in every way. We would definitely recommend staying here!

The pics don’t do this rental justice at all! It’s such a cute and charming cottage with the most comfortable beds ever!!! Prime location too! Can walk to beach and literally to 80% of stores and restaurants! Will definitely rent here again! It might just be my new favorite place to stay!

We really loved our stay at the Shell Cottage! Pictures don't do it justice, the house is so beautiful and well-appointed. We loved the nautical theme, the house is decorated very elegantly and all the bedding is super soft! The back room brings in a lot of natural light and we enjoyed our coffee there in the morning, while the kids played with games and books. We also enjoyed breakfast out on the beautiful patio. The kitchen is very well-stocked for cooking-in and everything we needed during our stay. Joel is super responsive and helpful as well and all communication was super smooth. It is only a 5 minute walk to the beach and Middleton Park is on the way, so we got to enjoy the playground, splash pad and the pineapple soft serve place all en route to the beach each day. Couldn't ask for a better location! We already booked our return trip in August and are excited to make this our base for future visits to Oak Island.

Joel’s Costal Cottage is a perfect beach retreat. The cottage is welcoming and the design impeccably done, making all feel relaxed and comfortable. The cottage boasts perfectly soft bed linens, cozy spaces for reading or games (many provided) a pristine kitchen for cooking with many amenities and an outdoor space perfect for grilling or marshmallows by the fire pit. The home was immaculate when we arrived and the owners responsive with area recommendations. A perfect retreat! With us making plans for another stay!

This was the most beautiful Airbnb I’ve stayed in! It looks even better than the pictures! It was very clean and super convenient. We loved how close it was to the beach and Middleton Park (with dole whip!!) The house is even an easy walk to Publix! We can’t wait to stay again

By far the best Airbnb we’ve stayed in on Oak Island. The cottage was so lovely and very clean. Just as good as the pictures!! Best of all, it’s just few mins walk to the beach! Check-in and check out was simple easy, and communication was very good. The home was just perfect for our family ocean getaway. 10/10 would recommend to friends and family . Besides hanging out in the beautiful home and yard, we loved the light house, a trip to Bald Head for the day, and yummy fun local pizza on the beach. Also easy distance to grocery stores. The hosts had great local recommendations, and we appreciated the hospitality that was apparent in every detail of the house!
